Serhou Guirassy’s release clause this winter apparently expires earlier than expected. According to the “Picture“The option, which amounts to 17.5 million euros, can only be exercised until mid-January, i.e. around the start of the Africa Cup (January 13th to February 11th). It seems more likely that the top striker will stay at VfB Stuttgart until the summer, as the Guinean has not yet received an offer.
This is unlikely to change in the coming days, as the 27-year-old is suffering from an injury to his right hamstring that he suffered during the first half of Monday’s friendly against Nigeria (2-0). An exact diagnosis is still pending. It is currently unclear whether he will be fit again in time for Guinea’s opener against Cameroon on January 15th.

The Stuttgart team in the person of Fabian Wohlgemuth is therefore “in very close contact” with the association and “also in direct contact” with the player, as the sports director told the “Kickerassured. But you still have to wait until the MRI images of the thigh are evaluated and hope for the best: “Remote diagnoses don’t make much sense.” National coach Kaba Diawara doesn’t assume any serious injuries (quoted via “The Athletic“): “He was replaced to avoid any risk. We don’t know how serious it is now, but it doesn’t look too serious. I can only hope it’s nothing serious.”
Guirassy has scored 17 goals in the Bundesliga so far, which is only bettered by FC Bayern’s Harry Kane (21 goals). The VfB attacker also takes second place in the scorers list. With a market value of 40 million euros, the right-footed player is by far the most valuable footballer in his country.
