VfB Stuttgart | Endo makes it clear before the Gladbach duel: “Only results help”

Based on the results of the last few months, VfB Stuttgart is currently the worst team in the Bundesliga. After their last win in Wolfsburg (2-0) in December, the Swabians have only scored two points in nine games. That’s eight points fewer than bottom-placed SpVgg Greuther Fürth in the same period.

Stuttgart’s captain Wataru Endo still believes that his team will be able to turn things around this season: “We’re on the right track, but at the moment only results help us and we urgently need points,” says the 29- year-old Japanese interviewed on the VfB homepage though myself.

However, the approaches shown in the last few games made him optimistic, as Endo himself emphasized: “It’s a complicated situation for us, difficult to master. But if we keep at it and play like we did last, I’m sure we’ll win again soon .”

The actual central defender was last used in an unfamiliar position and, as a player with strong running and fighting power, was placed much further up in midfield.

Endo last scored in Hoffenheim for VfB

A change that pleases the Swabian captain. The Japanese international is asking himself to be even more dangerous in the coming weeks in the relegation battle: “I’ve already played several games in the eighth position – I should actually score a goal or two – or at least prepare one. ”

In the recent 2-1 defeat of the Swabians in the southwest duel in Hoffenheim (1-2), Endo had given VfB the lead with his second goal of the season. However, Stuttgart conceded two more goals in the final minutes and thus suffered their 13th defeat of the current season.

“Now I have to keep going, scoring more goals and preparing because I can help our team with that,” Endo gave the direction for the tasks ahead. Next up, the second-to-bottom Bundesliga team will meet Borussia Mönchengladbach at home on Saturday evening (6:30 p.m.).
