Arsenal involved in transfer fee
Konstantinos Mavropanos is expected to leave VfB Stuttgart shortly. The defender was absent from Bundesliga training on Sunday because, according to sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth, he is in negotiations with his potential new employer. According to Wohlgemuth, one is in “very advanced talks” with Mavropanos and another club. The agreement between VfB and the English Conference League winners West Ham United is imminent.

After Wataru Endo (30), who switched to Liverpool, Mavropanos is the second top performer to lose to Stuttgart within a few days. For the 25-year-old there is between 18 million and 20 million euros plus possible bonus payments of 5 million. Ex-club FC Arsenal should be involved with 10 percent.

The defender, whose contract runs until June 30, 2025, was not in the squad when VfB 5-0 (2-0) at the league opener against VfL Bochum on Saturday. However, coach Sebastian Hoeneß had announced this and justified it with the consequences of the back problems that plagued Mavropanos in the pre-season.
Stergiou before moving to VfB Stuttgart: Not Mavropanos’ successor
According to consistent media reports, Stuttgart are working on signing the Swiss U21 national player Leonidas Stergiou from FC St. Gallen 1879. The 21-year-old is also a defender, but probably not intended as a direct replacement for Mavropanos. Rather, Stergiou will, according to the “Sky” reporter Dennis Bayer, evaluated as a “project with development potential”. In the room is a loan until 2024 with a purchase option for 2.5 million euros.
