Philipp Lahm is happy about VfB Stuttgart’s recovery in the Bundesliga.
“It’s nice,” said the 40-year-old former professional. “I believe that good work has been done over the last year and a half and structures have also been changed. VfB is now finally playing where it belongs again.”
Stuttgart, who were almost relegated in the last two seasons, are surprisingly third in the table after eleven match days in the current season. On Saturday they impressed with a deserved 2:1 (1:1) win over runner-up Borussia Dortmund.
The current phase reminds him “a bit of the time when I played here, when we played in the Champions League and had great experiences,” said Lahm, who wore the VfB jersey from 2003 to 2005 and on Monday for a Event for the European Championship 2024 in Stuttgart.
“The region is crazy about football,” said the former captain of the national team and 2014 world champion. “I always enjoyed playing football in this stadium. And now it’s fun again to watch VfB.”
