The Bundesliga soccer clubs Eintracht Frankfurt and VfB Stuttgart are reportedly targeting the same player. It is possible that one of the two clubs will strike in the winter.
Sékou Koïta from RB Salzburg is on the list of Eintracht Frankfurt and VfB Stuttgart, as transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports.
The attacker from Mali is aiming for a change in the winter, but the chapter in Mozart’s city should be over by summer at the latest. His contract expires at the end of the season with RB Salzburg.
However, Frankfurt and Stuttgart are not said to be the only clubs that have considered the 23-year-old. It is said that the French first division club RC Lens and clubs from Saudi Arabia have also become aware of Koïta.
Koïta moved from his hometown club Center Salif Kéita to the youth department of RB Salzburg in 2018. Through the farm team FC Liefer and after a six-month loan at Wolfsberger AC, he made his way to the professionals of the Austrian series champions.
Eintracht Frankfurt is looking for Kolo Muani’s successor
Since then, the left-footed player has scored 38 goals in 90 competitive games for Salzburg and also provided 20 assists. However, the striker is currently struggling with adductor problems and has not played a competitive game since September.
If Koïta actually moves to a new club in the winter, he will likely remain out for the time being. He is expected to be part of Mali’s squad for the 2024 Africa Cup; Koïta and his compatriots will play the first group game on January 16th.
It had recently become more and more apparent that Frankfurt and possibly VfB Stuttgart could sign a new striker in the winter. Eintracht is looking for a late successor to Randal Kolo Muani, while the Swabians are rumored to be leaving star striker Serhou Guirassy early after such a successful start to the season.
