After captain Waldemar Anton and Enzo Millot, VfB Stuttgart has secured the next professional. As the Swabians announced, right-back Pascal Stenzel’s expiring contract has been extended by two years until 2026. The 27-year-old came from SC Freiburg in 2019, initially on loan and a season later for 1.3 million euros. Since then, Stenzel has appeared on the pitch 107 times for Stuttgart – 14 appearances over 967 minutes so far in 2023/24.
VfB sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth explained: “Pascal Stenzel is one of the most technically adept players in our squad and is an important figure for us right up to the dressing room. He has a lot in common with Stuttgart and the region and VfB is a very personal matter for Pascal. We are pleased that Calle will continue to wear the VfB jersey in the future.”
Stenzel, whose market value is currently 2.5 million euros, said after his signature: “I feel very comfortable here, VfB is now my longest station in professional football. I’m happy to be part of the club and I’m looking forward to it continuing. Even though the last game against Mönchengladbach was anything but what we had hoped for, we played a good first half of the season. We want to build on this in the coming weeks.”
