After the dismissal of Pellegrino Matarazzo, VfB Stuttgart are looking for a new coach. Five candidates are currently being traded around the troubled Bundesliga soccer team.
The recent home defeat against Union Berlin (0:1) was too much for those responsible at VfB Stuttgart: Late on Monday afternoon, the club announced that Pellegrino Matarazzo would be stepping down as head coach after more than two and a half years.
The Swabians have not yet presented a successor, but the search is in full swing behind the scenes. Noisy “picture” At VfB Stuttgart the names Domenico Tedesco, Adi Hütter, Sebastian Hoeneß, Gerardo Seoane and Peter Bosz are being discussed.
All five trainers have Bundesliga experience. Tedesco (most recently at RB Leipzig) and Seoane (last at Bayer Leverkusen) were only released from their former clubs this season. Hütter (last with Borussia Mönchengladbach) and Hoeneß (last with TSG Hoffenheim) were active in the German football upper house until the summer.
Bosz also knows the Bundesliga very well. In 2017, the Dutchman was on the sidelines at Borussia Dortmund for around five months. An engagement at Bayer Leverkusen followed from December 2018 to March 2021. Just a few days ago, Bosz was replaced by Laurent Blanc at the French first division club Olympique Lyon.
VfB Stuttgart urgently needs points
VfB Stuttgart has to make a decision soon, as the club has some groundbreaking weeks ahead of them.
On Saturday (3:30 p.m.) the Swabians welcome VfL Bochum. Arminia Bielefeld will then make a guest appearance in Stuttgart (October 19) as part of the second round of the DFB Cup, before the tricky away game at BVB (October 22) is on the agenda.
With just five points, the traditional club is in 17th place in the table and is the only team in the Bundesliga without a win.
