VfB Oldenburg separates from coach Fossi: Seven games without a win

Seven games without a win

VfB Oldenburg has separated from coach Dario Fossi. The club announced this on Sunday evening. For the time being, assistant coach Frank Löning will take over the support of the team and prepare them for the duel against promotion contenders VfL Osnabrück. The promoted team had previously lost 2:3 (1:3) against MSV Duisburg. After the fourth defeat in a row, Oldenburg fell back to the penultimate place in the table. After Fossi played a key role in promotion to the third division last season, the decision was difficult for the club.

“We’re in a very difficult sporting situation, haven’t won in seven games and see it as our duty to do everything we can to keep up the class,” explained Oldenburg’s sporting director Sebastian Schachten. “Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to get the team back on the road to success over the past few weeks. After a very intensive analysis of the situation, we came to the conclusion that a change in the coaching position is necessary.”
