The troubled third division football team VfB Oldenburg has committed Fuat Kilic as their new coach. As the table bottom announced one day after the 0: 2 in the Lower Saxony derby against VfL Osnabrück, the 49-year-old follows Dario Fossi, who was released last Monday.
Kilic was last in charge of the regional league team Alemannia Aachen, last October he was on leave from the traditional club.
“Fuat Kilic convinced us with his detailed knowledge of our team and the 3rd division,” said Oldenburg’s sporting director Sebastian Schachten: “He is a coach who lives his job, who has a clear idea of football, but also beyond that can convey great enthusiasm.”
Ex-second division player Frank Löning, who took over the care of the Oldenburg team in Osnabrück on Saturday, will remain assistant coach with the Lower Saxony team under Kilic. VfB have lost all of their last five league games and have only won once since mid-October. With 21 points, four points are missing on the non-relegation zone.
