VfB Friedrichshafen wins first final in Berlin

VfB Friedrichshafen surprisingly gained an advantage in the duel between the eternal rivals for the German volleyball championship.

The team from Lake Constance won the first game of the final series according to the “best of five” mode at defending champion Berlin Recycling Volleys thanks to great morale with 3:2 (18:25, 25:27, 26:24, 25:21, 16:14 ). Game two of the series in the south of the republic is scheduled for Wednesday.

The Berliners, who had won the last five final duels, were highly motivated before the start. “Winning the title is such a nice feeling that you can’t repeat that often enough,” Volleys Managing Director Kaweh Niroomand told SID.

Challenger Friedrichshafen relies on the experience of his Australian coach. In 2012, Mark Lebedev, who was still a trainer in Berlin at the time, stopped the run of his current employer, who had been German champion without interruption from 2005 to 2011.

The Recycling Volleys have the chance of their twelfth championship title this year. This would bring them closer to record holder Friedrichshafen, with the exception of one success.
