After a successful carnival concert that was sold out within one minute, the men of Veul Gère continue. Next year, the carnival group just wants to be in a sold-out Poppodium 013 in Tilburg again. And that should be just as spectacular as the first time. “Three thousand frikandellen into the audience!”
Veul Gère’s first real long concert last month was special to say the least. With duets between a violinist, opera singer and carnival group, just to name a few. A follow-up is therefore inevitable, according to the Tilburgers.
“Too special to leave it at one time.”
“After looking back at all the images and viewing the reactions of visitors, we realized: the concert was too fun and special to leave it at one time,” says Jasper Moonen of Veul Gère.
So they are going to do it again: on January 13, 2024. The men still have almost a year left, but they are already feeling the pressure. “Could it get any better, we asked ourselves. But we have enough creative ideas to make it to make a spectacle out of it.” Jasper already gives one tip of the veil. “Three thousand frikandellen are just going back into the audience,” he laughs.
Only one rehearsal preceded last month’s concert. “That took some getting used to. Two and a half hours of performance is very different from half an hour at carnival. We suddenly had to watch out for a fire eater on stage and we had to think about where we stand.”
“It is not possible that Hazes is the last song during carnival.”
The coming weeks are therefore a good rehearsal for the group. “We cross the whole of Brabant, but always end up at our favorite pub in Tilburg. We are ready.”
And the carnival group is looking for a new sound with their new song ‘t Lèste Hour: a ballad. “For a long time we had the desire to make a ballad as the last song in the pub. It is not possible that Andre Hazes’ ‘Highest time’ is the last song during carnival in Brabant.”
The carnival group hopes to have a closing in the pub with their new song.
Waiting for privacy settings…
