The injured exceptional javelin thrower Johannes Vetter also has to worry about his start at the European Championships from August 15th to 21st in Munich.
“I can’t tell yet whether I can start at the European Championships in Munich,” said the 29-year-old world champion from 2017 in an interview with Sport1. That will be decided in the next few weeks.
However, the doctors first gave the all-clear that the shoulder did not require an operation. “It’s a process that will continue. I don’t know how long,” said Vetter, who had to cancel his start at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, USA.
Vetter was cautious about the disappointing performance of the German athletes at the World Cup, which ends on Sunday. “I know that all athletes who go to the World Championships do their best. I think it’s wrong to blame them,” said the Offenburger. “To see an excuse that there are two highlights of the season this year is just as wrong.”
The German track and field athletes remained without a medal on the first eight days of competition and could only achieve a place in the top eight.
