Vettel is ashamed of misbehaving F1 fans: ‘Banned from races for life’ | Motorsport

It was mainly Dutch motorsport fans who misbehaved last weekend during the Austrian Grand Prix on the Red Bull Ring. An estimated 50,000 Max Verstappen supporters were in attendance. Formula 1 and also team Red Bull of world champion Verstappen condemned the misconduct and called it unacceptable. “I don’t think there should be any tolerance for these so-called fans,” said Vettel.

Verstappen also responded earlier when asked: “I have read a few shocking things. This should never happen, anywhere. Actually, I shouldn’t even have to say this. A sane person should know not to behave like that.”

Verstappen and Wolff

Verstappen continues: “Maybe there should be more security, more checks. In addition, people here party and drink a lot of alcohol. Then you can do stupid things. That shouldn’t be an excuse. But maybe that can also be regulated. Sometimes it’s time to go to bed too.”

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff also had his say. “If you’re bothering someone, you’re just out of your mind. This behavior really needs to stop. If you’re a real Formula 1 fan you can’t be racist and homophobic. That does not fit in this sport and then it is very simple: you are not worth being here. Stay away, get out of here!” was the clear language of the Austrian.
