Veterinarian faces a lot of headwind in hearing about compulsory vaccination: “Your discourse is downright criminal” | Coronavirus

The series of hearings about the vaccination obligation started in the House Committee on Health with Luc Herry of the BVAS doctors’ union and the vaccine-critical veterinarian Geert Vanden Bossche. Herry clearly argued in favor of an obligation, partly because the pressure on healthcare and the economy is then relieved and the contested corona pass can be overhauled. Vanden Bossche claimed that vaccines disrupt the immune system, a statement that gave him a lot of headwind. Sophie Rohonyi (DéFI) even called his discourse “downright criminal”.

The Health Committee of the House this morning kicked off the long-awaited broad parliamentary debate on the general obligation to vaccinate. This discussion has been raging for a long time, both in society and in politics. In the coming days, the House will hear about thirty speakers from all walks of life, in order to then – if opportune – take legislative initiative.

Luc Herry, general practitioner and chairman of the largest doctors’ union BVAS, kicked off. The man clearly argued for an obligation of the corona vaccination for the adult population. In a survey among the members of the trade union, the majority also clearly spoke out in favor of this, it sounded.

“Much easier life”

“If everyone had been vaccinated today, we would have a much easier life now. The infections would be lower, our children could go to school, the healthcare sector could breathe,” Herry said. In addition, the costs for the government and the economy would have been lower, according to the GP. Finally, the vaccination obligation would also make the corona pass superfluous. “With that pass, the responsibility and control authority is placed on the shoulders of a few citizens, such as catering operators. That is actually unacceptable.”

Veterinarian Geert Vanden Bossche has a completely different opinion. According to him, the mass vaccination against the coronavirus is “an experiment” and the results of the vaccines in clinical studies do not correspond to the effectiveness in reality. He also reiterated that vaccines disrupt the immune system rather than boost it, a view that has been refuted by several experts.

“Criminal Discourse”

Vanden Bossche therefore faced headwinds from various MPs. Sophie Rohonyi (DéFI) called his discourse “dangerous and downright criminal”. Kathleen Depoorter (N-VA), Robby De Caluwé (Open Vld), Barbara Creemers (Green) and Steven Creyelman (Vlaams Belang), among others, asked for the scientific basis on which those statements are based.

The committee will continue this afternoon with biologist Liliane Schoofs, pediatrician Ann De Guchtenaere, virologist Johan Neyts and microbiologist Emmanuel André.
