French resale platform Vestiaire Collective and fashion house Paco Rabanne have unveiled a collaboration focusing on the ‘1969’ bag model.
Various variants of this model, including the Comme des Garçons edition from 2019 for the 50th anniversary of the bag, will be offered on Vestiaire Collective, the second-hand retailer announced on Monday. The used pieces have been available on the platform in various colors and sizes since the beginning of December.
Paco Rabanne is increasingly using upcycled materials for his collection and is breathing new life into old pieces with the repair service for the “1969” model. These components also flow into a new version in orange, Vestiaire Collective’s corporate design colour, which will be crafted from upcycled materials at the collaboration celebrations in Paris during the event and then auctioned online.
“Vestiaire Collective’s expertise makes us the perfect partner for luxury houses like Paco Rabanne. A French fashion classic, the ‘1969’ bag has been worn by everyone from Brigitte Bardot to Françoise Hardy,” said Sophie Hersan, co-founder of Vestiaire Collective. “We’re thrilled to bring them to a wider audience, underscoring the House’s incredible craftsmanship and the potential for resale that immortalizes iconic classics.”
