Bunne in North Drenthe is today a popular place for bird watchers to admire the very rare yellow-browed bunting. The bird is mainly active in Eastern Siberia and parts of China, but dropped its wings in Drenthe. That brought dozens of enthusiasts to their feet.
The spectators are lined up wide on the Bongveenweg to catch a glimpse of the animal. For this, the bird was observed once before in the Netherlands. In 1982, at Schiermonnikoog. That also happened in October.
