‘Very negative lately!’

Nikkie Plessen is dissatisfied with Quote’s critical reporting. She thinks it’s all far too negative, she told the business magazine. “Apparently that love is not always felt.”

Celebrities and critical reporting: it is like water and fire. How the stars hate it when they are not praised by everyone and everything. Does a sharp piece or a spicy opinion appear? Then they immediately say that it is all negativity. A very easy response, of course, with which they try to put all criticism aside at once.

Something crazy going on

Nikkie Plessen is now also under a magnifying glass, due to some striking matters in her company’s accounting. While the juice channels report that stores are discontinuing her clothing brand en masse, Quote notices that something strange is going on with her cash flow statement. “There was more than 2 million euros in hard cash from daily operations.”

Nikkie herself responded to this in a somewhat downplaying way last month. She then indicated that she did not feel like dealing with ‘negativity’. “She hopes that we can write ‘something nice’, because ‘irresponsible benefits do not occur with us’,” Quote wrote at the time.

A bit negative

Quote reports now that Nikkie is selling part of her fashion empire N-Brands to an investor, ‘probably to her relief’. “In 2022, the turnover growth of their clothing empire slowed down from almost 16 percent to just under 5 percent and annual profit fell from 5.8 million euros to 4.3 million euros.”

Nikkie says she is happy that the investor will help ‘further professionalize our organization and establish our brands internationally’. “Plessen does not want to provide any further explanation about the deal. She does text that she finds our reporting about her concern a bit negative lately.”

Love for Nikkie

The fashion expert from RTL Boulevard believes that more positivity is appropriate. “We had such a great year last year. We have still grown despite Covid and achieved top results despite the forced store closures in January and February. Very few in our industry do that.”

Quote boss Paul van Riessen writes down X: “Nikkie Plessen is one of the few women on our annual overview of the 100 most successful entrepreneurs under 40. For that reason alone, we at Quote love her. But apparently that love is not always felt.”
