A wildfire broke out at midnight in the Paaskamp nature reserve in Witten. According to a spokesman for the fire service, an area of about 300 by 100 meters is on fire.
An NL Alert has been issued due to smoke development. The fire service calls on bystanders to stay away and to give the fire trucks space.
According to the spokesman, the wind is favorable and there is no chance of further expansion. “The wind blows it towards grassland. Only when the wind starts to shift can it be a different story.” He expects firefighters to fight the blaze for hours.
