Very large fire at car company in North Holland

At a car company in Hem, municipality of Drechterland, in North Holland, a very large fire rages in the night from Thursday to Friday. The first report came in just after midnight. Because fuel is available at the company on the Zuiderkoggeweg, the company immediately scaled up. Corps from Hoorn, Blokker and Enkhuizen, among others, provide assistance.

Residents of a neighboring building had to leave their homes and are taken care of elsewhere. By deploying six fire trucks and two aerial platforms, the fire service was able to prevent the flames from spreading to a neighboring company. The fire service says it will take several hours to put out the fire.

A lot of smoke is released during the fire. Local residents are advised to close windows and doors and turn off ventilation systems.
