Very heavy suspension for Aalsmeer handball players Bottinga and Benghanem

Aalsmeer handball player Tim Bottinga has been suspended for twelve games after the blow he dealt in the game against the Belgian Visé. Samir Benghanem has been banned for six games. Visé player Yves Vancosen can watch nine games and his teammate Nicolas Plessers three.

Besides the suspensions of the players, both clubs will receive a fine of 2,500 euros. If something like this happens again within two years, a new fine of 7,500 euros will follow.

“The suspension is tough. What I don’t understand is that instigator Yves Vancosen gets less suspension than Tim Bottinga,” responds Aalsmeer chairman Mike van der Laarse. “Where the door closes on one side, one opens on the other. The young boys can now show it.”

In appeal?

Incidentally, Van der Laarse heard the news from the Belgian newspaper Het Belang van Limburg. He has not yet received an official announcement from the BENE-League. The chairman assumes that the news is correct and indicates that they are still considering appealing.

The suspensions apply to the BENE-League. This means that Bottinga will also have to miss the start of the Belgian/Dutch competition next season. In the Dutch Eredivisie, the players are allowed to play.
