Verstappen wins GP France and takes distance in World Cup position

Max Verstappen has distanced himself considerably from his main competitor Charles Leclerc of Ferrari in the battle for the Formula 1 world title. Just like last year, the Dutch world champion of Red Bull won the Grand Prix of France. Leclerc, who started from pole position, crashed out of the lead on lap eighteen and retired. Lewis Hamilton took second place ahead of his Mercedes teammate George Russell.

Verstappen now has 63 points ahead of Leclerc in the World Cup position.
