Verstappen starts second in Australia, pole for Leclerc

Max Verstappen will start in second place at the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc secured pole position in qualifying. Sergio Pérez, Verstappen’s Mexican teammate at Red Bull, will start in Melbourne from third place.

Qualifying was stopped several times with the red flag. Qualifying was interrupted in Q3 after Spaniard Fernando Alonso crashed. Canadians Lance Stroll and Nicholas Latifi collided hard during Q1.

The Australian GP is the third race of the season in which Leclerc is the leader after two races. Verstappen is third with 20 points less than the Monegask.

The race starts on Sunday at 7 a.m.
