Verstappen second in qualifying on wet Silverstone
Max Verstappen has just missed pole position for the Great Britain Grand Prix in Formula 1. The world champion finished second in qualifying in his Red Bull, which was largely finished in the rain on a wet Silverstone circuit. Verstappen was narrowly trumped by Ferrari’s Spaniard Carlos Sainz.
Verstappen conceded 0.072 seconds on Sainz, who took his first pole in Formula 1. The Dutchman started this season from first place in the GPs of Emilia-Romagna and Canada. Verstappen has won five of the last six grands prix and has already built up a significant lead in the World Cup standings.
