Max Verstappen has nothing to complain about after the first two training sessions for the Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia. The world champion spoke of “smooth sessions” after finishing second in his Red Bull both times. Only Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was twice a bit faster.
“We have been able to complete our program and try the different tire types. It seems that Ferrari is very fast again, so we still have some work to do to at least catch up. But there is plenty of room for improvement.” , said the 24-year-old Dutchman.
Verstappen had seen that in some places on the narrow street circuit of Jeddah the walls had shifted back a bit. Last year in qualifying he rammed into the wall in the last corner and missed pole position as a result. He then finished second behind Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton in a very eventful race.
Verstappen is out for revenge in Saudi Arabia. He retired from the opening race in Bahrain last Sunday with technical problems a few laps before the end of the race, scoring zero championship points. The Limburger was in second place behind Leclerc when the fuel supply to the engine started to falter.
