Verstappen recovers during the last free practice and records third time in Zandvoort

Things were not going well for Max Verstappen on ‘his circuit’ in Zandvoort on Friday. During the first free practice he had to give up the fight early and later in the day he finished only eighth. In the last training session before qualifying things went better and Verstappen set the third time.

As in the second practice, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc was the fastest. Verstappen came on track later in the final practice, but immediately set the fastest time of the weekend (1:12.309). This time was later tightened to 1:12.196.

In the end, his fastest time was 1:11.93 behind Leclerc and George Russel. This left him behind Carlos Sainz, Lewis Hamilton and teammate Sergio Pérez. From 3 p.m., the Limburger will try to achieve pole position during qualifying. The official race starts tomorrow from 3 p.m. in Zandvoort.
