Verstappen positive after training in Canada: ‘Good start to the weekend’ | NOW

Max Verstappen looks back with satisfaction on the first two free practice sessions for the Canadian Grand Prix. The Limburger set the fastest time in both sessions on Friday and therefore spoke of a positive day in Montreal.

“In general it was a good start to the weekend,” said Verstappen after the second free practice.

According to the World Cup leader, it is still a while to find the perfect balance in the car. According to Verstappen, there is even more in the barrel, especially on the red soft tires.

“That is always the hardest thing to get going, so I think we can still find time for that. Even though we already have a very competitive car,” said the Limburger.

In both practices, Verstappen drove race simulations. “That also looked good. It is always tough for the tires here, so we still have to work on that. But nevertheless it was a good day.”

A competitive car on Sunday anyway

Rain is forecast in Montreal on Saturday. That can make for a wet qualifying. Verstappen is not worried about that. “In the end, that’s the same for everyone, so we just have to deal with it.”

The Dutchman is ultimately looking forward to Sunday, which is expected to be dry. “I know I’ll have a competitive car no matter what happens on Saturday. So we’ll see.”
