Verstappen awaits difficult catch-up race in Singapore Grand Prix

Max Verstappen is waiting for a difficult race to catch up in the Singapore Grand Prix, he wants to win the world title in Formula 1 for the second time on Sunday. The reigning world champion will start from eighth after qualifying went wrong and Red Bull brought in his driver on the final fast lap because he would otherwise run out of fuel in his car.

The 25-year-old Limburger can win his second world title in Singapore on paper. Then he has to win the race and hope that his competitor Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari does not get too many points. However, with Verstappen in eighth starting place and Leclerc on pole position, that scenario is not so promising. In addition, according to Verstappen, overtaking is also difficult on the Marina Bay street circuit.

Verstappen, who has already won eleven races this season, is on 335 points. Leclerc has 219. Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Pérez, who is next to Leclerc on the front row, is number 3 with 210 points.

The race will start at 2 p.m. Dutch time.
