Max Verstappen set the fourth fastest time in the second free practice for the Monaco Grand Prix, just like in the first practice.
The reigning Red Bull world champion finished behind the two Ferraris and behind his teammate Sergio Pérez. Charles Leclerc was fastest for the second time on the day.
Charles Leclerc
Leclerc came to 1.12.656 on the street circuit in the principality and was therefore much faster than during the first training session. The Monegask was 0.044 seconds ahead of his Spanish teammate Carlos Sainz and was significantly faster than the two Red Bulls. Perez was 0.379 slower. Verstappen was almost half a second behind Leclerc with 0.447.
McLaren
Practice came to a halt when Australian Daniel Ricciardo drove his McLaren into the wall. His teammate Lando Norris also went straight at a bend at the end of the session, but was able to remain undamaged. Norris set the best time behind the Ferraris and Red Bulls.
Sixth
Mercedes driver George Russell finished sixth in practice with 1.13.406 and was clearly faster than his teammate Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time world champion remained in twelfth place with 1,14,267.
Leader of the World Cup standings
Verstappen leads the World Cup standings with 110 points, 6 points more than Leclerc. The reigning world champion has won the last three Grands Prix and four races in total. Leclerc won the other two races.
