Verschoor disqualified after winning in Spielberg

Dutchman Richard Verschoor was able to celebrate his second win of the season in less than five hours in Formula 2.

The Trident driver was disqualified on Sunday afternoon in Spielberg because there was less fuel in his car after the race than required.

Because the runner-up, the Indian Jehan Daruvala (Prema), was subsequently given a 20-second penalty, Logan Sargeant (Carlin) advanced to the winner of the main race at the Red Bull Ring.

Brazilian Enzo Fittipaldi (Charouz) and Roberto Merhi (Campos) also benefited and climbed to second and third place respectively.

The two biggest title contenders, Felipe Drugovich (MP Motorsport) and Theo Pourchaire (ART), gambled and missed out on the points. At the beginning of the race, part of the field was still on rain tires, but the track dried out quickly.

Despite everything, Drugovich (154 points) continues to clearly lead the overall classification. His first pursuer is now Sargeant (115), Pourchaire follows a point behind. The French now expect a home game on 23./24. July we go to Le Castellet.
