That gender equality is good business is a life motto for Veronica Baracat. The coordinator of the UN Women Country Program in Argentina She has an extensive career to her credit working to improve the quality of life of women, occupying relevant positions in international networks and institutions and government agencies.
Coordinating the Win Win program in Argentina, Baracat wants to achieve the economic empowerment of women. What they are looking for is not only greater access to income, but also that they have the opportunity to control the use of resources in companies and the ability to choose and make decisions in the processes.
“The general objective of Win Win is to contribute to the economic empowerment of women, recognizing them as beneficiaries and partners of growth and development, increasing the commitment of the private sector”, explain the foundations of the successful program carried out by Baracat and which has extended its Branching out to companies, through alliances, in order to eradicate the stereotypes that abound in the market.
Between 2018 and 2021 he served as National Private Sector Specialist of UN Women Argentina. She has extensive experience in international organizations and in networks of defenders of women’s rights in Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition, she was part of the International Gender and Trade Network between 2003 and 2008.
In the Argentine public sector, she worked at the National Women’s Council, at INADI and at the National Human Rights Secretariat.
It is Bachelor of Administration from the University of Buenos Aires and owns a Master’s in Gender Studies from the London School of Economics (United Kingdom).
Verónica has more than 20 years of experience seeking gender equality: “It is not only a matter of rights or justice, it is good business for companies,” she insists. And she works so that the country’s public and private sectors are convinced of the same.
