“Veri-Pena” leaves the SM league – Lukko signed Canadians

In the SM league, doors from abroad opened and closed.

The cult defender who made a splash in the ranks of the Lahti Pelicans in the season that ended Ben Blood continues his career in the German premier league in the Löwen Frankfurt team.

“Veri-Pena” was in his element especially in the playoffs, where he scored a handsome four goals. The season with the Pelicans ended with a silver medal.

However, there was no continuation in Lahti, and now the 34-year-old American is moving to the big city of Frankfurt.

– I am grateful that God has blessed me with this opportunity to play in Frankfurt, Blood expressed in the club’s press release.

In total, Blood played in the SM League for seven seasons. In addition to Pelicans, he represented Ässi and Tappara.

Canadians to Rauma

Rauman Lukko announced on Friday that it had acquired the Canadians By Josh Brooke and Brayden Burke to his group for the coming season. Both contracts are for one season.

Brook, a 23-year-old defenseman, has played the last four seasons in the AHL. Last season, he played only 13 regular season games in Calgary’s AHL team with an output of 1+5.

– Injuries have slowed down the beginning of his career a bit and because of that the number of games has been small, Luko’s sports director Kalle Sahlstedt backgrounded.

– We have high expectations of him. I believe that the man will take steps forward for us. This player has great potential.

The 26-year-old forward Burke, like Brook, played for a long time in the AHL before moving to Europe. Last season he started in the farm league in Manitoba, but in the spring he moved to the second level of Switzerland to the Vispi team.

Burke’s last season was also broken, as he played only ten games in Manitoba and five in Vispi.

– We were interested in the overall approach to the game that he has and, on the other hand, his ability to attack. I believe that Burke can be an overwhelmingly good player, Sahlstedt described Burke.
