The Verdi union is calling for air security strikes on Thursday. This is said to affect several airports.
In the collective bargaining dispute between aviation security forces at German airports, the Verdi union is calling for warning strikes this Thursday. The all-day strike affects the Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Stuttgart and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden airports, as Verdi announced in Berlin on Tuesday.
The press release stated that “the employees in the aviation security sector who work in passenger screening, as well as at the Berlin, Hamburg and Stuttgart airports the employees who work in passenger screening, in people and goods screening, in freight screening and in service areas “are” called to strike.
The reason given was: “The employers had recently presented an improved but still inadequate offer. That’s not how we come together,” said Wolfgang Pieper, ver.di negotiator. The employees are ready to increase the pressure on employers. The strikes could be expanded.
No agreement has been reached between the collective bargaining parties in the five rounds so far – the next round of negotiations will take place on March 20th. Verdi is negotiating deals for 25,000 employees in this area.
