The platform feels supported by the municipality, which gives negative advice and also submits an objection with three arguments. “First, there is a lack of research for both the technology used and the route,” says Matthias Vanneste, councilor for Environment in Deerlijk.
“Secondly, it is unclear what the impact will be on public health. This makes it unacceptable that that line passes entirely over residential areas in Deerlijk.”
If the Flemish government does not adjust the spatial implementation plan, legal action is still possible in the further procedure.
