ROME – In order to somewhat slow down the gigantic flow of tourists to Venice so that it remains manageable, the unique northern Italian city will in the future charge an entrance fee for day trippers. The ticket will cost three to ten euros. There will be a six-month trial run to see how it works. If so, it should come into force definitively next year. The measure does not apply to people staying overnight in Venice. Meanwhile, reservations are encouraged from now on.
