The Velser tunnel to the north is temporarily closed due to a technical malfunction. Traffic will be diverted over the A9 via the Wijkertunnel.
The outage started around 8:30 am. It concerns a defect in the traffic control installation, a spokesman for Rijkswaterstaat said. “This puts everything on red.”
A technician is present in the tunnel, but it is not known until when the malfunction will last. “It’s difficult to estimate.”
Earlier today, the tunnel to Beverwijk was also temporarily closed due to an accident.
