Velocity bike race paralyzes Berlin at the weekend

On Sunday (July 2nd) there will be extensive closures throughout the city from 7 a.m. to around 2 p.m. due to the Velocity cycle race.

Extensive closures are also being set up for dismantling in Tiergarten. In the area between Straße des 17. Juni, Großer Stern, Ebertstraße and Yitzhak-Rabin-Straße, traffic will only return to normal from 6 p.m. on July 4.

The following closures are planned from Friday, June 30, 6 p.m. to July 3, 6 a.m.:

► Ebertstrasse between Scheidemannstrasse and Behrenstrasse
► John-Foster-Dulles-Allee
► Scheidemannstrasse and Dorotheenstrasse between Heinrich-von-Gagern-Strasse and Wilhelmstrasse
► Heinrich-von-Gagern-Strasse
► Paul-Löbe-Allee

Already on Saturday from 11 a.m. on the Straße des 17. Juni there will be racing events for children over different distances within the already closed areas.

On Sunday, the races over various distances will start at 8 a.m. The start and finish is the Straße des 17. Juni.

Approval after the last cyclists

The closure of the entire race track begins at around 7 a.m. and ends shortly before the first starting signal. The release will take place gradually – as soon as the last cyclists have passed the route – and will probably end around 2 p.m.

The race track begins on the Straße des 17. Juni in front of the Großer Stern and runs through Charlottenburg, Zehlendorf, Steglitz, Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain and Mitte, among other places.

The dismantling of the start and finish area will begin after the end of the event and is expected to be completed on Tuesday, July 4th. completed at 6 p.m.

Due to the closure of the cycle routes, numerous bus and tram lines will also be diverted, withdrawn or divided.
