Veldstormer PSV will remain stuck for at least 14 days

The 20-year-old man from Roermond who stormed the field during PSV-Sevilla last Thursday and attacked the goalkeeper of the away team, will remain detained for at least 14 days. This was determined by the examining magistrate in Den Bosch on Monday.

De Limburger is suspected of assault and violating the area ban, which was previously imposed by the municipality. In 2021 and 2022 he already received community service twice for violations around football matches.

After his arrest, it was also found that the man had drunk too much. He had a blood alcohol level of over 1.6.

The case will be settled through fast-track court on Wednesday, March 8. The Public Prosecution Service says that the seriousness and impact of the offense and the criminal history of the suspect are explicitly taken into account.

Paul Saris, the Roermonder’s lawyer, did not want to comment on the court’s decision on Monday. “No comment.”

‘We are deeply ashamed’
PSV already announced last Friday that it would recover any fines from UEFA on the attacker. In addition, the club wants to better enforce the policy regarding stadium bans in the future. “This is unworthy of PSV and we are deeply ashamed of it,” said general manager Marcel Brands at the time.
