The two Azzurri, Olympic gold in the Nacra 17 class, have not lost since 2021 and aim to continue the winning streak in the world championship regatta that begins in Canada
Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti are energized and determined, they want to win their second world title on the Nacra 17 (the first they won in 2018) and flew to Nova Scotia (Canada) with only one goal: to win. Or better still to win, because after the Olympic gold in Tokyo last year, the two Azzurri have won all the regattas in which they have participated: the Princesa Sofia Trophy in Mallorca, the Semaine di Hyeres in France, the Kieler Woche in Germany and in July. in Denmark the European championship (their fourth continental title).

Despite their supremacy on the flying catamaran (they won the European championship with 65 points ahead of the second), the two Italian sailors did not allow themselves even one day of vacation “Holidays? We simply didn’t – says Caterina – after Denmark we are we went to Marseille to try out the Paris 2024 race course together with 13 other crews. Afterwards we went to Lake Garda for other training “. The couple Tita – Banti presents itself in Canada as the crew to beat “We know we are starting as superfavorites – confesses Ruggero -, but it will be very tough, the level of the opponents is growing, everyone has improved and the training regattas we have done at Marseille have shown that they have been very close. As far as the racing field is concerned, we are starting on an equal footing, no one has ever competed there, it will be a surprise for everyone “. Expectations are high but the two sailors do not let themselves be influenced “We are calm – explains Banti – we have worked well and we know that if we do not make mistakes we can play with anyone then (superstitious) what arrives comes”.
