The Douglas perfumery chain is filling a regional management position. On Thursday, the company announced the appointment of Veit Weiland as CEO of the country organization for the German, Austrian and Swiss (DACH) markets.
Weiland will assume the position on April 1, Douglas said. He succeeds Nicole Nitschke, who is leaving “by mutual agreement”. She has decided to “continue her career path outside of the company,” the retailer said.
According to his future employer, Weiland has “over 30 years of retail experience”. He comes from the shoe supplier Deichmann SE, where he was most recently Managing Director International for the regions of Northeast, Central and Southeast Europe. Before that, he held management positions at Apollo Optik Holding and at the food discounter Lidl.
Sander van der Laan, CEO of the Douglas Group, justified the personnel decision: “Veit Weiland brings profound knowledge and extensive expertise, among other things, in the areas of sales, expansion, logistics and at the same time many years of experience as a manager,” he explained in a statement “We are convinced that he and the DACH team will bring Douglas into the next phase of growth.” It is “particularly about expanding our successful omnichannel strategy and further developing both the branch business and online trading in the interests of our customers ‘ said van der Laan.
