Great sturdiness and versatility for the Cedar Ridge Campers mobile home, only four meters long but very comfortable. The top is in the whole pull-out kitchen outside
It is well known that off-roaders are a separate category, while those who also want to go off-road with campers are a niche. An interesting solution comes from the United States that could please everyone: Vega XT 2.0 is the successor to the Vega XT launched a few years ago by the manufacturer Cedar Ridge Campers, based in Kentucky. They are a small family run business who aim to offer compact caravans that are perfect for the weekend adventurer. The Vega is the flagship model, offered in two variants, AT (All Terrain) and XT (Xtreme Terrain): the 2.0 update applies to both, but is more evident in the second version. Like its predecessor, the XT 2.0 – nearly 4m in length – is constructed from a high quality fiberglass and laminate composite to ensure virtually lifetime use. Updates over the original XT include a stronger welded steel frame, with 1585kg Timbren suspension and approximately 5cm of rise, for a total ground clearance of 53 cm. The caravan rolls on 16 inch aluminum wheels and are protected by sturdy mudguards.
VALID EQUIPMENT
—
As standard equipment of a removable 100 W solar panel, a 105 AH lithium battery (expandable up to 210 AH), a 1,500 W pure sine wave inverter and a Redarc management system. There is also a 75.7 liter insulated water tank, a Truma water heater and boiler, a Maxxair fan (Zerobreeze air conditioning is optional) and an integrated shower system. The cockpit has a double bed complete with a compartment under the bed, wireless charging surface, sockets and a skylight, for observing the stars at night. Despite the rugged look, the faux wood interior provides a surprisingly stylish and welcoming feel, the roof rack is now rated for 227kg meaning you can use it to add a roof top tent to accommodate a further two people .
THE EXTRA TOUCH
—
The most important change is the outdoor kitchen rear, called the ‘tailgate galley’, which is now offered as standard with a pull-out hob and sink, fitted to either side. The Vega XT 2.0 offers a spacious work surface, thanks to the extension function that allows you to keep free the sink with folding bowl and the tap with hot / cold water, in addition to the 45.7 cm two-burner stove fed by a tank 9 kg propane tank placed on the drawbar. The caravan features a 95-litre Roam storage box as standard equipment, with space that can accommodate an optional Truma refrigerator. Instead, on the opposite side of the stove extension, the XT 2.0 offers a pantry drawer with dividers, deep and wide enough to hold supplies for a few days. The price in the States has been set at 34,500 dollars, approximately 31,500 euros.
