Veerle Heeren (CD&V) will put an end to her political career from next year. She announced this on her Facebook page. The former mayor of Sint-Truiden was discredited after some people from her immediate vicinity were prematurely vaccinated against corona. In September last year she resigned as mayor, after commotion about secret loans from the city to former mayor Jef Cleeren (CD&V), who has since died.
