finanzen.net: What is Veefriends?
Andy Krainak: Veefriends is a modern entertainment company. We birthed our 283 characters and intellectual property on the ETH blockchain and since then we have been working to further develop our characters across all media and content to increase awareness of the Veefriends characters.
Why do you think VF will be a success?
Andy Krainak: It will be a success because of its founder and CEO, GaryVee. He has a proven track record when it comes to building businesses. And I believe he knows how to operate and how to hire people to do it. VayanerMedia [Die Social-Media Agentur, die Gary Vaynerchuck aufgebaut hat, Anm. d. Red.] is a great tool for Veefriends to help the business grow.

Why do you think every kid will know Veefriends?
Gary Vaynerchuck : Because I think the characters are universal. Kindness, patience and empathy. These are real life things. I think I’m good enough to make people fall in love with these characters in the next 20 or 30 years, and I’m very passionate. I firmly believe in it and that’s what I focus on.
Can Veefriend’s NFTs be viewed as a public company investment?
Gary Vaynerchuck: I think of it more as a collector’s item. A Pokemon Charizard Rookie card is a collector’s item. And that’s exactly how I see the Veefriends NFTs.
What is your specific role as President of Veefriends?
Andy Krainak: My specific role as President of Veefriends is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the company and ensure we are steering the ship in the right direction to achieve the goals we want to achieve. That means strengthening the connection to the characters we want to influence the world with.
How has the Veefriends vision changed over the course of the journey?
Andy Krainak: In the first Veefriends trailer of 2021, Gary described Veefriends as an ambitious NFT project, and I think we’re all just learning how ambitious Project Veefriends is. We’re here in Indianapolis today at a great conference, VeeCon. Running a conference of this magnitude successfully takes a lot of time, resources, energy and expertise. We’re doing this in parallel with building 283 characters. We also have access and utility tokens for Veefriends with access to Gary, special hangouts, surprises like GiftGoat tokens. I think every entrepreneur or company needs to reorient and adapt in real-time, and so do we. And I think the biggest learning goal and obstacle is to manage the ambition of this project and to be as successful as possible, day by day we try to balance the initiatives.
And what are past mistakes that Veefriends company learned the most from?
Andy Krainak: A lot depends on the communication. I think many other NFT projects face hurdles and obstacles when we talk about timelines and roadmaps. We are not unaffected by this. Our goal is to build a modern, contemporary entertainment company. And how we will do that, whether it’s with books, films, social media content, YouTube kids or events. We will respond daily to the opportunities that arise. But the intention to build a modern media company will always remain the same.
Is there a company you orient yourself to? E.g. Walt Disney? Or is there none, because there is no such thing on an NFT basis yet?
Andy Krainak: It’s both. I would say Disney is the key to success when it comes to building an IP business around characters. However, I also think it’s great what Luca Netz from Pudgy Penguins is doing. I also love the doodles. I think there are a lot of NFT projects that have really interesting and strong IPS. With that in mind, I’ll just focus on Veefriends. I will use history as a guide to find out how we can evolve and strengthen Veefriends. But there is no comparison to what we do and I am very focused on growing the resources and talent that we have at Veefriends.
Gary mentioned in a podcast that if there was a crypto crash, he would be so sorry that if some people buy a Veefriends NFT for €40,000 and the value goes down to €0, he would give all Veefriends holders additional utilities such as: VeeCon access for the next 10 years. Have we got to this point yet?
Andy Krainak: I would say the power of blockchain is that anything can happen at any moment. We can decide what we want to do in real time and that goes back to roadmaps. I don’t want to speculate or make “what if” assumptions or say that this might happen. I don’t think that’s healthy for anyone, but I also want to share that it will be tomorrow. We can change direction and that may impact Veefriends NFT holders.
You once said that on a podcast: You can’t wait for some people to sell their Veefriends after VeeCon 2024. Why this?
Gary Vaynerchuck: That was obviously a joke and a nod to some people who think the ROI of a Veefriend for them is only the VeeCon. It was more like: Hey, I want to take you on this journey of this company. There are so many options on this journey. You don’t judge someone’s life after just 3 years in the world.
