Olympic champion Darja Varfolomeev and Anastasia Simakova have reached the all -around finals at the European Championship of Rhythmic Sport Gymnastics in Tallinn/Estonia.
Varfolomeev moved after two EM days, on which she had done three out of four handheld devices, the second best in the competition on Saturday (from 8.30 a.m./SWR Livestream). Her Schmiden teammate Simakova came to the all -around final, in which the best 24 athletes compete.
On the second EM competition day, the band and the clubs were tied: The 18-year-old Varfolomeev came first in the band qualification, Simakova (20) missed the device finals on Sunday.
With the legs, however, the Olympic champion had to struggle with uncertainties while catching and, as the ninth, missed the device finals of the best eight. It went better for EM debutante Lada Pusch (17/Schmiden), who made the qualification for the Keulen final perfect in fifth place.
On Thursday, Varfolomeev, Germany’s athlete in 2024, had already moved into the tire as the winner in the final competition. With the ball, Simakova had booked a final place to the German Turner Bund (DTB).
The title fights in Tallinn end on Sunday with the four device finals (from 8.30 a.m./SWR Livestream). The World Cup will take place in Rio de Janeiro in August.
