Gian Piero Gasperini becomes the new head coach at the Italian first division club as Rome. The club confirmed this on Friday. The long -time coach of Atalanta Bergamo, who had only announced his farewell to the club at the end of May, signed a contract with the Roma until 2028. There he succeeds Claudio Ranieri, who had been adopted together with the now resigned German ex-international Mats Hummels after the end of the season.

In the message, the Roma Gasperini “innovative tactics, its work culture and the extraordinary ability to develop players” emphasized. Ranieri and the club leadership are convinced of the 67-year-old, who had shaped Atalanta into one of the top teams in Italy in recent years.

Gasperini had taken over the Bergamo club in 2016 and subsequently led it to international business. The culmination of his term was the profit of the Europa League in 2024 – by winning the final against Bayer Leverkusen.
