Vappu Pimiä responds to the hate mail he received from the TTK broadcast: “I was really upset”

Dancing with the Stars – the second host of the program May Day Pimi, 45, says that he received an absurdly large number of hate messages with the broadcasts. Pimiä states in his Instagram stories that, unfortunately, it is an annual phenomenon around the TTK program.

– I understand that Dancing with the Stars is such a big phenomenon that it increases publicity, interest and people’s attention. And it’s quite human, he states in his story section.

– I also notice that every autumn the number of disgusting hate messages and really outrageous messages, for example criticizing the appearance, increases radically, he continues.

The presenter does not want to generalize the phenomenon. However, Pimiä says that she has noticed that most of the senders of hate messages are women about 20 years older than her. Pimiä gives an example of the feedback he received after the last TTK broadcast, where a woman criticized the presenter’s appearance.

– I was completely upset. For a moment, I even really thought about posting that message here with a picture, so you could see what kind of message comes here, he says.

However, Pimiä decided not to publish the comment in question because he doesn’t think it will benefit anyone. He also doesn’t want to transfer similar negative energy to social media.

– People should remember that we are all human. We all do our best, right? I wonder about such people, where is their empathy and humanity.

In the end, Pimiä emphasizes that he is not perfect himself, but in his opinion, the way people react to such situations is often what separates them.

– Now I’m not trying to polish my shield here – there are a lot of people who annoy me. But whether I decide to discuss it with one of my friends or whether I take it to the public or to the person in question makes a really big difference, he states.
