Vandalism and burglary in Rensenpark: ‘More nighttime security’

Reilman thus points to one of the criminals who struck at the Rensentheater, diagonally opposite Cho. Three weeks ago, the refrigerator, which is under a roof next to the theater, was robbed empty, says Jannet Westebring. “All beer and wine. For us, that makes quite a difference financially,” she says. “We then hung fishing line everywhere.”

A measure that did not help enough, since the freezer full of meat was then looted. “An employee of the theater could not sleep that night and kept an eye on the security camera. And around ten to three he saw three men with a bag full of tools.”

The police were notified and one of the men could be arrested on the roof near Cho. The flesh got the theater back. They just couldn’t enjoy it for long. Because one day later the freezer was empty again. “The other two managed to escape,” said Westebring. “And they have come back.”

The camera captured her very sharply. The images have been handed over to the police. Westebring says he has reported several times. “If I know their names and know where they live, the police will soon find out. But of course I am very disappointed with the whole situation.”

Both Westebring and Reilman and Wortmann would like to see more security being done during the night hours. Westebring: “If the police make their rounds through the center of Emmen at night, why don’t they take the Rensenpark with them? That would help.”
