MOTORSPORT – What bad luck for Glenn van Straalen. The driver from Hoogkarspel was passed by the Swiss Dominique Aegerter just before the first race in the World Supersport was flagged early. As a result, the first victory of his career passed the North Hollander’s nose. But the second place did mean the first podium place of his career on this global podium for Van Straalen.
Van Straalen was in the lead for a long time in his home race, partly due to crashes by Lorenzo Baldassarri and Can Oncu, but above all by riding very strong after his fifth qualifying time. For example, the Dutchman impressively fished Nicola Bulega, who seemed to punch a hole, back in with his own hands. Van Straalen passed Bulega and then led for a few laps.
