Thick clouds of smoke rose tonight from the A1 near Uddel. There was a company van ablaze.
At around 8 p.m., the driver of the vehicle saw smoke coming from under the hood. He stopped his van along the highway between Kootwijk and Apeldoorn and called in the fire brigade.
When the fire truck arrived, the van was already completely on fire, as was the adjacent roadside. The smoke spread over the highway and the right lane was closed to traffic. The flames were extinguished after about fifteen minutes.
Little is left of the company van. The fire was caused by a technical fault.
