Van Rijthoven returns wildcard qualifications Cincinnati

Tennis player Tim van Rijthoven has decided to return the wildcard for the qualifications of the masters tournament in Cincinnati. The number 120 in the world still wants to be careful after his back injury last month.

In mid-July, Van Rijthoven last played at a challenger tournament in Indianapolis, where he retired due to back pain. On Monday it became clear that he would participate on a wild card in the qualifying tournament in Cincinnati next weekend, but that event comes too early.

The 25-year-old Van Rijthoven is currently preparing for the US Open, the last grand slam tournament of the year. The tournament starts on Monday 29 August. In the run-up to the US Open, he plans to compete in Winston-Salem.
