Van loses load of beer due to accident in Adinkerke

A traffic accident occurred on the E40 near Adinkerke on Friday night around 3.30 am. Just before the French border, a woman in a BMW noticed a Romanian van too late. The Romanian driver was driving his vehicle with a trailer loaded with beer at low speed on the motorway when he was hit from behind by the BMW one kilometer before the exit. The van was ejected and badly damaged.

The automatic emergency assistance ensured rapid notification of the emergency services. The woman got out of her car on her own, but completely upset she was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The Romanian van sustained heavy damage. The vehicle lost two wheels and all windows were cracked. The trailer was also badly damaged. The van contained a load of beer that partly ended up on the highway.

Two lanes of traffic were blocked for a time due to the accident and traffic had to pass via the hard shoulder. The fire brigade placed a signaling car and had a lot of work to remove glass and debris from the highway.
